The Strathgartney Equestrian Park

As Island eventers know, the Strathgartney Equestrian Park is a vital part of Horse Trials PEI being able to hold their events. It has the only EC certified cross-country course in PEI, and offers 5 levels for training and competition. It’s located in the beautiful hills of Bonshaw. Island riders of all disciplines are lucky to have the opportunity to take advantage of this beautiful facility throughout the showing and training season.

Horse Trials PEI is not the only club to use the park and it’s open to all clubs and disciplines for anything from shows, to clinics, to just going for a leisurely ride around the grounds. It provides a safe, affordable facility for all equestrians on PEI to have a place to train and compete, from grassroots to high performance.

Age and lack of funding have taken it’s toll on the park the last few years, and it’s time for some renovations. Construction began on the two show rings in the fall of 2017, with the goal being to have them completed in time for the 2018 show season. Horse Trials PEI is holding a “200 Club” fundraiser to help raise money to support this work. Information can be found on the “Fundraiser for Strathgartney Equestrian Park” event page.

Contact Horse Trials PEI to get tickets or for more information.

Thank you for supporting the Strathgartney Equestrian Park and Island equestrians.

Away we go!

We’re well into 2018 already! If you haven’t already, this is the time to sit down and plan your show season and make a training and conditioning plan.

It’s also time to renew memberships! The HTPEI membership form has been updated. Don’t forget to get your Island Horse Council and Equestrian Canada memberships as well.

We have many exciting clinics and shows planned for 2018. Start off the season with a jumping clinic with Ruth Allum, April 28 & 29. Following that will be a great Victoria Day weekend, with a two day clinic with Waylon Roberts on Saturday and Sunday, and then continue the learning with coaching from Waylon during the Training Event on Monday.

Check out our Events page and follow us on Facebook to keep up to date with all our great events!!

Busy Busy!

We are super excited for the clinic with Waylon Roberts this coming weekend!! Sure to be fun and a great learning experience as well. Come watch if you can’t ride!

We’ve also been doing lots of work on the cross-country course at the Strathgartney Equestrian Park. Lots of new jumps for our Fall Horse Trial September 30th. We’re also happy to be hosting the Eventing portion of the Atlantic Canada Equestrian Championships at our Fall Horse Trial, so don’t miss it!

Spring Ahead

We’re well into 2017 and it’s time to get your memberships up to date. Don’t forget you will need an Island Horse Council membership as well to join Horse Trials PEI. Late fees come into effect March 31st, so don’t wait.

We have a busy season coming up with lots of great clinics, training shows a derby and a horse trial. Time to start getting you and your horse in shape, it’s going to be a great year.

End of Year

Well, 2016 is almost over (how’d that happen!?!).

Unfortunately we had to cancel the fall clinic as Hurricane Matthew decided not to cooperate with us.

But, since then we held our AGM and Awards night on November 10th. Check out our “Awards” Section for the list of 2016 winners. Photos from the night should be posted soon as well.

And you can see a list of our new board members for 2017 under “About Us”.

We came up with a list of events we’d like to hold in 2017, including a Training Event/Clinic in May, a Derby/Clinic in June, a Clinic in August and a Horse Trial in September. Exact details and dates are still in the works. We are currently in need of an Organizer and Secretary if we are going to have a Horse Trial, so if you’re interested or know somebody that is, please contact us asap.

Stay tuned for updates! We’re always open to suggestions so if you have any ideas, please let us know.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! See you all in 2017!!

Eventing Clinic

Our final scheduled riding event of the year will be a great clinic with Rob Stevenson of Lakeside, NB.

A super deal for experienced and “newbies”!

Rob rode in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics for Canada in Eventing. He is a Level II Eventing High Performance Coach.
This will be a great clinic for riders of all levels and a perfect time to try out cross-country for the first time for those new to the sport.
